Another WW2 bomb was found near the Southern Building. It will be disposed on Thursday afternoon; more information can be found in the forwarded mail. Our institute is not affected directly, but during the disposal process only the Danube gate of the building can be used.

Based on information provided by the Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) and the bomb disposal unit of the Hungarian Defence Forces, a suspected explosive device dating back to World War II was discovered during construction works next to the Southern Building of the Lágymányos Campus of Eötvös Loránd University, while earthworks were being carried out.



Following the identification of the explosive device, the authorities have initiated the necessary safety procedures. The disposal of the device is scheduled to begin on March 19, 2026, at 3:00 PM, and will be carried out by the bomb disposal experts of the Hungarian Defence Forces.



In order to ensure the safe execution of the operation, law enforcement authorities have ordered temporary safety measures in the affected areas of the campus.



The following measures will come into effect:



Southern Building

The authorities have ordered the complete evacuation of the Southern Building starting from the specified time, for an expected duration of 3–4 hours.

During the evacuation period, the building will be fully closed, meaning that neither entry nor exit will be permitted. Please ensure that everyone leaves the building in time and that those present cooperate with the authorities and university staff on site.



Northern Building

It is strictly prohibited to stay in the glass-enclosed area of the so-called “physics slab section” on the southwestern side of the Northern Building during the entire operation.

The southern and western “pencil” entrances of the Northern Building will be closed for the duration of the disposal operation.

Access to and exit from the building will only be possible via the Danube-side entrance during this time.



Applies to both buildings

Please collect any personal belongings from the cloakrooms no later than one hour before the buildings are closed.



We kindly ask you to share this information through all available communication channels with colleagues, students, tenants, and the affected organizational units to ensure that everyone is informed about these temporary measures in time.

A Budapesti Rendőr-főkapitányság (BRFK), valamint a Magyar Honvédség tűzszerész szolgálatának tájékoztatása alapján az Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetem Lágymányosi Campusának Déli tömbje mellett zajló építési munkálatok során, a földmunkák végzése közben egy feltételezhetően a II. világháborúból származó robbanószerkezet került elő. A robbanótest azonosítását követően a hatóságok intézkedtek a szükséges biztonsági eljárások megindításáról. A robbanószerkezet hatástalanítását a Magyar Honvédség tűzszerész szakemberei előreláthatólag 2026. március 19-én, 15 órakor kezdik meg. A művelet biztonságos végrehajtása érdekében a rendvédelmi szervek ideiglenes biztonsági intézkedéseket rendeltek el a campus érintett területein.

Az alábbi intézkedések lépnek életbe:



Déli tömb

A hatóságok a Déli tömb teljes kiürítését rendelték el a megjelölt időponttól kezdődően, várhatóan 3–4 órás időtartamra.
A kiürítés ideje alatt az épület teljes lezárásra kerül, így sem a belépés, sem az épület elhagyása nem lesz lehetséges. Kérjük, hogy mindenki időben hagyja el az épületet, és az ott tartózkodók az intézkedésnek megfelelően működjenek együtt a helyszínen szolgálatot teljesítő hatóságokkal és az egyetemi személyzettel.



Északi tömb

Az Északi tömb „fizika lepényrészének” üvegfelülettel határolt területén (az épület délnyugati oldalán) a művelet teljes időtartama alatt tilos tartózkodni.

Az Északi tömb déli és nyugati, úgynevezett „ceruza” bejáratai a hatástalanítás ideje alatt lezárásra kerülnek.
Az épület megközelítése és elhagyása ez idő alatt kizárólag a dunai bejáraton keresztül lesz lehetséges.



Mindkét tömbre vonatkozóan

Kérjük, hogy a ruhatárakban elhelyezett személyes tárgyakat legkésőbb az épületek lezárása előtt egy órával szíveskedjenek átvenni.



Kérjük továbbá, hogy az információt a rendelkezésre álló kommunikációs csatornákon keresztül szíveskedjenek továbbítani a kollégák, hallgatók, bérlők és az érintett szervezeti egységek felé annak érdekében, hogy mindenki időben értesülhessen az ideiglenes intézkedésekről.
